Naugatuck Fire

Garage Fire Cotton Hollow Ct 3/15/13

Naugatuck firefighters battle a stubborn garage fire on Cotton Hollow Ct. The first due assignment arrived and requested the box for a working fire in a large detached garage. Crews were hampered by a water problems caused by an improperly working hydrant and a large fuel oil tank within the structure. The garage also housed a wood working shop, atleast one vehical and numerous items which made getting to the seat of the fire by an interior attack impossible. With the collapse of the roof the department's ladder was able to be used to attack the fire from above and numerous hand lines were stretched for an exterior attack. The residents of the second floor of the home required an ems evaluation for the extreme emotional distress brought about by witnessing the fire. There was also exterior damage to the exposed homes mostly in the form of melted vinyl siding due to the initial intense heat of the fire.
