Working House Fire Main St 6/18/10

Just after 730am tones were sounded for Northfield Fire along with mutual aid from East Litchfield, Litchfield, and Thomaston Fire for smoke coming from the second floor and roof across from 13 Main St. The first arriving unit reported a working fire and requested a RIT team from the Town of Watertown A water supply was established using a portable pond and tankers. Crews entered the recently vacated home and attempted to locate the source of the fire on the second floor and attic space of the structure. While the interior crews worked to find the seat of the fire he roof was laddered and the roof crews made 2 cuts to ventilate the structure through the roof. After about 40 minutes the situation was brought under control and crews would remain on scene for extensive overhaul operations. There were no civilian or fire fighter injuries reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at the time.
