Terryville Volunteer Fire

Fatal Structure FIre 170 East Plymouth Rd

Shortly before 5am Terryville volunteers were dispatched for a fire at 170 East Plymouth Rd. They arrived to find the old East Plymouth Church building which was built in the late 1700's and currently converted to a residential structure heavily involved in flames. Because the distance to the nearest hydrant was approximately a mile away and immediae call for mutual aid tankers was requested from Thomaston,Harwinton, and Northfield. Because of the intensity of the fire crews mounted an external attack to quickly knock down the majority of the fire. Upon advancing in the discovered the body of one victim of the fire in the house. The circumstances surrounding the death and identity of the victim have yet to be determine. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
