Terryville Volunteer Fire

Barn Fire Cross Rd 7/05/10

Terryville Fire crews were dispatched to the scene of a fully involved barn fire on Cross Rd. They arrived to find a well involve barn approximately 40x20 with a large amount of hay stored in it. A request for mutual aid for tankers from Harwinton and Thomaston was made since the heat from the fire was threatening the house next door. The fire was quickly brought under control leaving the crews to overhaul and wet down the remains of the building and contents. The exposed house had it's siding melted by the heat but no other structural damage was sustained. Mutual aid EMS was requested fro Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance to assist with the rehab of the fire fighters since the temperatures were in the 90's. The cause of the fire is under investigation
