Washington Volunteer Fire

Structure Fire 10 West Morris Rd 3/18/10

Shortly before 1am Washington volunteers received a call for a possible structure fire at 10 West Morris Rd. They arrived to find a large single family dwelling wih and attached office area with heavy smoke and fire showing fire showing from the structure. The occupants of the house had escaped but there was a fear that thier pets may not have gotten out. Mutual aid tankers and man power was requested from the Northville volunteer company of New Milford as well as EMS assistance from Warren. To establish a water source while waiting for the tankers Washington fire fighters laid in a large diameter feeder and set up a drafting operation from a pond just north of the intersection of Romfort Rd. and West Morris Rd. Fire fighters would battle the blaze for a little better than an hour to bring the intense fire under control and would remain on scene for an other hour or more overhauling and picking up the LD hose lay. The cause of the fire is under investigation
