Structure Fire Public Self Storage Captain Neville Dr 4/02/11

With multiple calls for smoke showing from a self storage complex on Captain Neville Dr, Waterbury Fire was dispatched with a full structure assignment. First due Engine 5 had had to first gain access through the locked gates and then had to cut the door on the storage unit to access the fire. As this was being done Engine 4 hooked the hydrant at the intersection or Pierpont Rd to establish a water supply for the other units working to extinguish the fire as there were no hydrants in the complex. After approximately 15 minutes the fire wass knocked down containining it to the original storage space. Crews forced the adjacent storage spaces to check for extention as well as ventilate the structure as the burning contents made for a heavy smoke conditon. The fire marshal's office responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire
