Structure Fire 50 Chestnut Ave 04/14/11

Just before 4 AM Waterbury Fire was summoned for a possible structure fire in the rear of 50 Chestnut Ave. Engine 6 was the first to arrive on scene and reported a large two story garage well involved and they would be stretching. They would soon be assisted by Engine 8, Rescue Engine 1, Engine 2, Truck 3, and Truck 2. As the Engine crews stretched in multiple lines the truck companies laddered the structure with ground ladders in an attempt to open up the structure. The gained accessed to the second floor and used their demolition saw to cut through the garage doors to access the lower garage. Crews would spend 45 minutes in a back and forth battle before the fire was finally declared under control and a long stop. The fire fighters did a fantastic job containing the fire to the building of origin as it was surrounded by multiple close proximity exposures. The fire marshal was called o the scene and the fire remains under investigation at this time.
