Structure Fire 15 Spread Oak Lane 06/05/12

An early morning fire badly damaged one side of a single story wood frame duplex at 15 Spread Oak Lane. Waterbury Fire responded as multiple calls flooded the dispatch center and arrived to find heavy fire showing from the right side of the duplex. Three lines were stretched and put into operation with an aggressive attack which would bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes. One fire fighter was injured during the attack but all of the residents escaped the dwelling without injury. The unit of origin sustained heavy damage but the left side unit sustained primarily smoke and water damage. The 7 occupants were assisted by the Red Cross in finding temporary housing. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
