Waterbury Fire Department

Fully Involved Residential Structure Fire Windsor St 06/11/17

I was working an extra shift at my regular job at the Bunker Hill Pharmacy when people came running into the store saying to call 911 because the house around the corner was on fire. As the staff made the necessary call I went out to grab my camera from the truck going from pharmacist to fire photographer mode. As visible from my first due shots companies arrived for a defensive attack on a fully involved 3 story wood frame. Alll occupants and their pets were accertained to be out of the building. In the mean time the parishoners of the church next door were making egress and trying to move their personal vehicles off the street so the fire department would have good access to the scene.Companies worked stretching lines as well as gaining a water sources from nearby hydrants on of which was in front of the pharmacy. The main body of fire was knocked down in about 45 minutes but the home was a total loss. Red Cross disaster service were on scene to assist the occupants in find shelter and the fire marshal was on scene to investigate the cause.
