As the City spent most of the morning digging out of the first major snow storm of the season fire crews were dispatched to 113 Robbins St for a possible structure fire. With multiple calls coming in for the 2 story apartment building across from Waterbury Hospital they knew they would have their work cut out for them. The first arriving companies arrived to find heavy fire showing from a second floor apartment and the Battalion Chief immediately called for a second alarm assignment. The position of the house on the one-way ramp from Grandview Ave to Robbins St made for a difficult access with the ladder truck. Interior crews made an aggressive attack to bring the fire under control and keep it from spreading throughout the entire structure. The roof was opened to vent and check for extension in to the attic space. Companies would remain on scene for an extended overhaul.
