Winchester/Winsted Volunteer Fire

Fully Involve Dwelling Rt 263 Sugar Shack Farm House 12/19/13

Winchester and Winsted companies were dispatched for a structure fire on RT 263 at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon. They arrived to find a large farm house which was built in the 1800's well involved. Mutual aid from Norfolk,Goshen,New Hartford.Colebrook.Pleasant Valley,Torrington Career Dept, and Torrington Drakeville Volunteers. A tanker shuttle was established as well as two fill sites at Park Pond and Lake Winchester to keep the water supply flowing at the scene. With the fire so well advanced prior to dispatch much of the residential structure was destroyed by the massive fire. No residents were injured but the fate of the family pets was uncertain.
