Watertown Volunteer Fire

Fully Involved Vacant Structure Echo Lake Rd at Buckingham St 7/28/10

Shortly after 10pm Watertown Volunteers were toned out for a structure fire at the corner of Echo Lake Rd and Buckingham St. First arriving units reported a large fully involved vacant house. Orders were given to set up master streams as with no exposure problems and the structure so well involved an exterior attack was the only option for a safe attack. With live service lines burning through and arcing ground crews were pulled back and an aerial assault was mounted until the power could be cut. Once the power was turned off the ground crews could move in and flood the collapsed structure bringing the fire under control. A request was made for the town highway department to bring in a payloader to open up the debris pile so all hotspots could be doused. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
