Mobile Home Fire 139 Lewis St 3/3/14

A the Naugatuck Fire Chief was headed to Lewis St from downtown to investigate a large column of smoke that he thought might be from illegal outside burning, dispatch put out the box alarm for a fire in a mobile home at 139 Lewis St. Command arrived to find a fully involved moble home spreading to the trailer next door. The fire was so intense it burned through the powerline dropping them on Engine 4, electrifying it causing crews to abandon the piece until power could be cut. With the assistance of Beacon Falls and Oxford Volunteers at the scene and Prospect Volunteers providing station coverage the fire was brought under control but not before both trailers were totally damaged. All occupants escaped without injury and were assisted by the Red Cross in finding temporary shelter.
