Salem Bridge Partial Collapse 6/15/10

Just after 6:30 am Naugatuck Emergency Services were dispatched for a possible crane collapse at the Salem Bridge construction site. They arrived to find that it was actually a one span of the northbound lanes which was suppose to be redecked and had just recently been used for traffic as crews worked to rebuild the southbound lanes. Radio traffic indicated that one person was pulled from the debris and transported to the hospital but the condition of the patient is unknown. Due to the nature of the incident the response from the NFD,NPD, and Naugatuck Ambulance was augmented by CSP,Homeland Security, and the MTA Train Police as a major train line used by commuters runs below the bridge just north of the collapse site.
