Well Involved Structure Fire 87 Thorson Rd 3/4/14

Oxford Volunteers were called out for a structure fire on Thorson Rd a remote unhydranted section of the town. First arriving units found a large residential structure with heavy fire involvement throughout.An immediate call went out for mutual aid in the form of tankers from neihboring Southbury,Seymour, and Beacon Falls. With two fill stations in nearby fire ponds a tanker shuttle was established as crews stretched in to battle the already fast moving fire. Even with the quick response athe fire consumed the structure burning through the roof. News report the occupants who escaped unharmed said the fire started in a mattress which was setup near an alternate heat source as they had no heat at the time of the fire. Crews would be on scene overhauling and wetting down hot spots well into the morning.
