Tree Falls On Car Trapping Occupants On Rt 68

Two elderly occupants of a compact car were trapped when a massive tree broke and fell on it. Prospect Fire and Campion Ambulance made a rapid response to the scene and extricated an elderly female and elderly male from the crushed vehicle using chain saws and extrication equipment. The elderly female driver sustained an arm amputation as well as major crushing trauma due to the impact of the tree and was rapidly transported to St Mary's Hospital in near traumatic arrest. The elderly male passenger was also transport ed to the same hospital with injuries which appeared not to be life threatening
