Three Alarm Commercial Structure Fire Carl's True Value Hardware North Elm St 12/11/13

An attic fire at Carl's True Value Hardware store bought a multiple alarm and multiple deparment response in the bitter night cold on 12/11/13. The fire which appeared be in the attic space at the rear of the large hardware store know for having anything you might need. Interior crews were able to make their way to the seat of the fire and knock it down before it could get out of control. Along with Torrington career and volunteer fire fighters mutual aid from Harwinton, Litchfield,Bantam, and Winsted volunteers were called tobattle the blaze. There was also som concern that the fire might spread to an adjacent "L" shaped strip plaza on the McDermott St side of the scene but it appeared the fire was contained to the hardware store and the stop was such that major damage to the structure was limited.
