Multiple Alarm 2 Residential Structures Central Ave 06/16/17

Companies arrived to heavy fire showing from the rear of 121 Central Ave. With the fire threatening the exposures on both sides the three buldings were As the evacuated sending a large number of residents into the rain. As companies appeared to have the main body of fire knocked down in the building of origin heavy smoke could be seen pushing from the eaves and chimneys of the "bravo" exposure. As crews pushed into the exposure building several pets were rescued as they cleared the floor on their way to the fire which appeared to be intensifying in the attic space. Truck 1 repositioned the ladder so the members could cut a vent hole in the roof of the exposure, which vented heavy fire and smoke immediately after it was opened. As the rain intensified crews pushed hard from the interior to get at the stubborn fire. The incident was brought under control after an hour and 35 minutes. Two fire fighters were transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non life threatening injuries. Animal control assisted with the rescued animals, the RedCross was called to assist the victims. The cause of the fire is under investigation. With most of the City's resources committed to the fire mutual aid from surrounding towns covered the stations and multiple routine calls during the fire.
