Structure Fire 6 West Grove St 9/27/18

Companies were dispatched for a structure fire at 6 West Grove St, the initial dispatch came over as PD on sceneneof a 3 story wood frame with heavy fire showing and residents trapped on the second floor.Upon arrival it wwa determined al ocupants were out of the building but the re were other challageds initially. The house was set well back off the street with no access but a long narrow driveway loaded with parked cars so all line had to be stretchedfrom the street by hand. The street was a narrow one way with cars parked ion both sides making it impossible to get and engine to the hydrant. In coming companies took the hydrant near West Main and Willow and layed in a long supply line.The only aeial access was from the parking lots in the adjacent property on West Main which they were able to set up an aerial water tower operation from. The main body of fire was knocked down in about 45 minutes but relief companies would spend several hours trying to reach the many hot spots. One fire fighter injured during the overhaul operation. The fire was suspicious in origin and fire officials say they have a person of interest in the investigation.
