A late afternoon fire went in a residential structure went to a second alarm upon arrival in Winsted. First due units arrived at 145 Prospect St to find a well involved room with heavy smoke pushing from the upper floor of the house. With mutual aid on it's way from New Hartford, Norfolk, Pleasant Valley and Colebrook, Winsted crews laid in supply lines and set up their ladder to attack the fire and search for any possible victims. With the searches negative the interior crews went to work on the fire bringing it under control after about 25 minutes. All mutual aid was held while the building was overhauled and cleared of hotspots. The Fire Marshal's Office was notified so that an investigation into the cause of the fire might be conducted.
