Watertown Volunteer Fire

Vehicle Fire With Exposure Problems Apple Hill Dr 03/23/12

Watertown Volunteers were dispatched for a van fire in the driveway of a residence on Apple Hill Dr. They arrived to find a fully involved conversion van in close proximity to the dwelling. Engine 1 pulled in at the head of the driveway and as the fire fighters stretched on the fire Engine 2 and Tanker Engine 4 positioned in the street to provide additional support and water if needed. The fire was quickly brought under control with a combinaton of water and foam. The structure was also washed down, laddered, and checked for extension with thermal imaging due to the close proximity and high heat generated by the burning van. The interior of the structure was also ventilated and monitored since there was a moderate smoke condition on the second floor.
