Structure Fire 25 Grove Hill Rd 04/16/11

Initially dispatched as a possible chimney fire Watertown Volunteers responded to 25 Grove Hill Rd in the center of town. When Chief Black arrived he reported heavy smoke showing from the chimney and upon further investigation reported that the fire was a structure fire which appeared to be contained to one room. Engine 5 the first due piece immediately stretched in with the second due to take the hydrant and lay in a supply line. As the crews advance to take the door heavy black smoke was billowing from the front and filling the upper floor of the house. As they approached the door a window was broken to vent the fire bringing fire out from the window allowing the crew to push in and quickly knock down the fire and save the home from further damage. The quick response and well executed attack knocked the main body of fire down in 3 minutes and totally under control within 8 minutes of the arrival of the first engine.
